Your Aftercare

Water:

Please ensure you drink at least 1.5 litres of still water each day.

Movement:

On the day of your treatment try not to sit still for more than 20 minutes at a time. A short walk around the room for a few seconds is all that is needed to best benefit from the treatment session that has begun its work.

Responses:

Responses to a Bowen treatment that may or may not be experienced include:

·       Thirst

·       Tiredness

·       Hot and cold flushes

·       Headaches

·       Mood changes

·       Body aches and pains (and old injuries making their way out!)

These are all positive signs that the healing process is working and these responses usually clear after a few days. Epsom salt baths are a great addition to a course of treatment.

Exercise:

Continue with any comfortable and gentle exercise regime that you already have, unless otherwise advised. Movement is advised following treatment.

Medication:

Do not alter any prescribed medication or diet.

Heat/Cold:

Do not use icepacks or heat pads during a course of Bowen.

Do not have very hot or cold baths or showers, or use sunbeds or saunas.

Other therapies:

During a course of treatment with the Bowen Technique, do not receive another physical therapy such as Reflexology, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Massage, Shiatsu or Acupuncture within 7 days after you have finished your Bowen treatments.

This is to ensure that the body is not overloaded with information or given differing therapeutic information to deal with at the same time.

Professional Conduct and Ethics
